Abraham given the promise

Lot went to the plains
Sodom one of those cities..
Those evil cities,
Doing evil in God’s sight
Looks can be deceiving.
After Lot had gone his separate way,

God came to Abram, saying,
‘Look as far as you can,
Northwards, southwards, eastwards and westwards.
Everything you see,
Will be given to your descendants forever.’
God paused.
Letting this sink into Abram’s mind,
‘In fact,’ He said, ‘I will multiply your descendants
‘Til they are like the dust of the earth,
If anyone could number them.’
Abram looked all around him,
Wandering at what he heard.
‘Now go,’ continued God,
‘Walk the length and breadth of this land.’
So Abram moved his tent
To the terebrinth trees of Mam’re in Hebron.
Here he built an altar to God – his second.
